Hey guys,

I finally got round to buying cs:s the other day, but I'm having quite a lot of slowdown with it? I did some stress tests today to see if I could place the problem.

At 1600x1200 with all settings top except AA and AF, i get 53.4 or some such fps, with vsync on....through the stress test it sits at 60fps except it "jerks" every 3 seconds

Just to make sure it wasnt me trying too high a setting for my system, i tried it again at 1280x1024 same settings, then 1280x1024 lowered settings, and then 640x480 everything turned right down and I was getting results between 50 and 55 fps every single time, and the same jerking! I've tried new drivers to try and eliminate that too but still no good.

Graphics card is a 6800GT, I've got a gig of ram and a 3500+

If anyone could help me, it'd be fantastic :)

Cheers

Tom.

enabling triple buffering when vsync is used often resolves performance issues like this associated with vsync.

The option is in the nvidia control panel.

I may play with vsync on from now on too to eliminate slight tearing :p

didnt fix =[

Try different drivers.

Try to disable V-Synch.

Try checking the integrity of the Steam Files.

Try creating your own server (no bots) and seeing what happens. Open console up and type net_graph 3 and keep an eye on your FPS.

Be sure that steam isn't doing stuff in the background. Or that other background tasks aren't doing things.

Try turning off HDR if it is on. (look under video options, advanced). Turn off aa/af if they are enable here.
