Guys,

Ive got a bit of a problem, since changing from XP 32-bit SP2 to Vista Ultimate X64 edition im having a problem with counter strike source.

This happens with NONE of my other games apart from css.

Into the game, i get high fps, stress test reports 180fps average.

Settings are all on high with 4x msaa @ 1920x1200 resolution.

180fps was average on xp sp2 32-bit.

After about 15 mins or longer or even shorter fps drops and can range between 28fps to 100fps and maybe 110, gets especially bad when theres action!

MY system spec is

Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz (B3 Stepping)
2Gb of Corsair PC6400C4 memory
Nvidia geforce 8800GTS 640Mb edition (BFG Stock speeds)
Abit P35 motherboard
600W OCZ StealthXStream PSU

Vista Ultimate x64 edition.

Its on a dell 2407wfp display.

As i said never had this prob until 64-bit vista. only this game also.

ive DEFNIATELY got all the updated drivers, and checking ram it never goes higher than 1.5gb usage on source even with aero in the back ground.

(gotta say here tho, vista eats ram like its goin outa fashion!!!!)

but apart from that i cant think what the problem is.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
J

in short its vista....ive tried vista 32bit and had the same effect.
a time demo went down from about 300fps(xp) to 200fps(vista).

that was about 6 months go though...i thought they had meant to have sorted most gaming problems.

yeah but it just seems to play up after about 15 mins of gameplay like a ram problem but it doesnt go above 1.5gig when playing so :S

just a bit unusual and wondering if theres a way around.

gonna try playing whilst disabling all the themes and stuff see if that helps

if its after so long of gameplay it could be heat related but 15mins seems a bit quick...i wouldnt have thought it would be memory unless you have virtual memory set really low or disabled.

also try different drivers as they usually have a fairly big effect especially in online games.
