Hey,

I would post this on the steam powered forum but its taking an age for them to "verify" me.

Anyhoo.

I havn't played it in ages but thought I'd reinstall steam the other day as I'd just formatted. So its a completely fresh installation.

Now when I join a game it stutters big time, its completely unplayable.

My specs:

a64 3500
x800xt
2gb DDR
xfi xtreme music

Now the only thing I've changed in my machine since the last time i've played it is the xfi (was using onboard sound before) and I only used to 1gb of RAM.

It does seem to be sound related as it stutters when there's a gun shot or an explosion, although this could be coincidence.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Drivers?

Have you tried replacing the sound card drivers? Got DirectX 9.0c installed?

After that, have a shot at removing all drivers from Windows, re-installing motherboard driver, VGA driver then sound driver. (latest downloaded one of course)

Also try popping the soundcard in a different PCI slot - I've seen that solve problems before.

Do you have problems in any other game, or just CS: Source?
