CS:Source problem

Whenever i try and connect to a server through the in-game menu, my router shows the ping to be around 2000 which is clearly ridiculous and it wont let me join, however when i use x-fire it usually lets me join without any problems, any ideas what is causing this?

When you refresh the server list you're receiving thousands of incoming data packets, which can cause some (read: cheap) routers to go all wobbly. Try turning off all filters and stopping the server refresh when it shows over a thousand servers then applying the filters. Keep in mind it may take a few minutes between refreshes before your router will 'recover'.

If that doesn't work remove firewall exceptions for HL2.exe and re-add them, especially likely if this trouble only started after a recent update to cs:s.
