Hi all.

Its time to move on from my ancient & trusty little IXUS (to be honest my S7 Edge takes better pictures now)

I am after something which will offer me some flexibility and a little more control (me and the other half are booked on a camera course) DLSR is not required as I can borrow hers (when she is not looking)

After digging around I wish to stay with the M43 as I believe this is the same fitting on the mrs DSLR (could be wrong though, was the chap in jessops who told me this)

My budget is £350-£400 I do not mind second if its reputable source.

Was looking at E0S M10 which ticks a few boxes and Pano Gf8

(Main use is holiday snaps for the moment with a move into snapping things from my telescope)

Firstly, if you want to 'stay with M43' then take your eyes off the EOS M10, they're completely different lens mounts. The Canon EOS M10 uses the Canon EF-M mount.

The Panasonic GF8 is however a Micro Four Thirds Mount (M43).

That said, what make and model is your partners camera? Posters can then be sure of giving you some correct advice.

What lenses does your partner have as well?

Did you not simply google for this camera in order to see what type of mount it uses and what compact cameras Canon offer than could use the lenses for this camera?
(It's not m43 btw)

Have a think about how important being able to use the lenses from her DSLR is to you as this will have a major influence on what options you have.

The EOS 1300 is an APS-C camera that uses EF-S lenses - neither the M10 (EF-M) or the GF8 (M43) are compatible bodies with those lenses.

If you wanted to borrow lenses, you either need an APS-C Canon body with a mirror, or an M10 could be compatible with an EF-S>EF-M adaptor, which would take away from the whole point of having the smaller body of the M10.
