CSS and COD4 server list very low

Hi guys since switching to virgin media 20mb i'v noticed when i do search for servers the list from 1000+ (with fliters, secure, not empty, not full) has gone now to 100-200 servers on both games.

When i had my Bulldog ADSL (same pc same settings) i had loads to choose from.

Any who plays these games and is with Virgin Media having any issues?

I get about 50 pub servers for de_nuke on CS:S on Entanet. But often I just use game-monitor.com to find a good server anyhow. Never realised different ISPs affected the amount of servers found on games.
 
I think its more to do on how quickly you can ping many servers at once. With DSL(bulldog) i was able to ping loads of servers and keep a low number. With Virgin media some servers ping back 60 but after i enter it drops to around 20 so i have a feeling that virgin media pinging is not very good.
 
Have you changed your router? When I search CS:S for servers it returns around 279 all password protected (Dunno why!). Without the cable router, i get roughly 18000.
 
same problems as OP, says it has refreshed 17k+ servers but i can only see about 100 and cannot tell from their pings if they r worth joining so i only join ones with .eu or.uk in the name :mad: worst server browser ever imo. surely it would be easy enough to patch it to make it searchable for "UK" or "jolt" etc
 
COD4 HAS around 15k servers i think u need to patch it css go in your filter options if you live in europe set to europe etc.. css server list is down as its getting old but still popular and u still can find good servers
 
Depends on the router and / or ISP.

With the crappy BT HomeHub i would see like ~ 40 servers after refreshing, with my netgear i almost instantly get 400+ With filters active (Displaying only not empty, and ping under 50).
