Hi there, i recently stared playing Counter Strike Source and it seems my moniter is really too dark, i have turned my moniter brightness all the *** up and i have turned the gamma to full on the game, i have also right clicked the desktop > propeties > settings > advanced and turned everyhin full and on my desktop it goes very bright, but nothing seems to change in game, i basically cant see anything when i go into a tunnel, any help would be great.

Thanks

Luckypapyrussam

p.s. any plugins or anythin to make my moniter brighter when playing games?

I have a similar problem. My CSS brightness is SO low. I used to be able to use the mat_monitor_gamma x command but they restricted it. I can understand why they did but if you still want to exploit, nothing is stopping you whacking your desktop brightness right up.

Basically what I do is bind a colour scheme to a keyboard shortcut. I've binded Ctrl + Alt + O for default brightness and P for CSS :) I believe I use an ATI program called TrueColor (I assume it's ATI's as I really don't remember downloading it. I've only ever downloaded Powerstrip, I assume it isn't an extension of TrueColor.)

Well.... now i have installed new graphics card drivers and my CSS seems to be brightner now but now i am having problems with BattleField 2, plus battlefield 2 doesnt have any brigtness ajusters... and that power strip works on my desktop but when i turn the game on it just goes back to the way it was :S, please can someone help this really need to be fixed quickly :S

If you have an ATI card, download and install ATI Tray Tools, then assign a hotkey to increase gamma and decrease gamma, in game press assigned keys and increase your gamma :)

Looked on the ATI website and cant find a link to the tray tools, can anyone offer me a link please.. also power strip works... its just the brighness doesnt stay bright once the game has booted up, i dont no what this problem could be... when i turn the brightness up with power strip i can make it really bright on the desktop ( alomost too bright to see) but when i boot the game up i get no gamma or colour change at all!

Sam.

i had a similar problem it was the monitor. i replaced it (xiod 17" crt) with a 22" Mitsubshi CRT that i got from a guy via these forums which sorted these brightness problems out.
are you using a CRT or TFT? and which make/model aswell. it could be a TFT with crap contrast making it hard to see.

Nah its a CRT Gateway EV700 17", i always thought it was the moniter to be fair, but i thought there might of been a way to fix it, i guess not :S

Anyway ill test my brotheres TFT and my other brotheres tft's he has to see if there is a differance, then i 1. buy a new moniter 2. throw my head into the wall wondering when will the darkness end...

use rivatuner and adjust the overlay. works great!!

however if u use an ati card LOL@u, theyre lame and the drivers dont adjust the overlay brightness very well, they might work once, but the 2nd time it wont and needs you to reboot.

Well i am using a ATI card (9600 pro) and this problem is getting anoying, lets just hope rivatuner you are talking about works :(

EDIT!!!

Figured out how so solve my problem without getting a new moniter :D

i downloaded this advanced game gamma correction and this works perfectly, thanks for all your help and anyone who has this problem... Download this
