CSS Issues

Right just finished downloading CSS onto my laptop, have been playing 1.6 in the mean time lol.

Loaded up CSS and all i get is a black screen, the options are there cause i can hear the click they make when you select them, but i cant seem them, when i do click on something, i get a few dodgy line and then it crashes with a memory rference error or something.

Laptop is centrino duo 1.8ghz, 512 ram, all the other normal bits, the graphics driver is a intel 945GM chipset, have just checked and have the latest driver for it.

is it anything to do with the processors?

try setting CSS to run in a lower DX level perhaps in the startup properties.

something like

-dxlevel 8

in advanced launch options force your native resolution. to do this type in '-width 800 -height 600' or whatever it is

installed an earlier driver and all works fine now lol. Just getting carp fps, will have to see what i can do. will runnning it in a lower DX level improve it at all?

It won't improve the looks but should improve the performance. Head on over to tweak guides and do everything it says there under HL2 tweaking.

Is there a way in CSS to remove menus like in 1.6 (and be left with text based menu)?

i.e: no VGUI
