Have an E6600, 2GB RAM and 8800GTX with Vista 64bit.

When I throw or get a nade thrown at me there is a little stutter like a few dropped FPS when it explodes.

Also when playing on Nuke and go from inside to outside again I get a quick little stutter. I think this is to do with HDR but surely my spec PC is fine for this.

Any ideas?

I think i had a problem in the past with a built in Soundcard in terms of CSS stutters. i installed a PCI Soundblaster and it worked fine. but this was a while back.

Seems I must be the only one with the Issue.

Darn, have to hope it stops.

I used to have the same stutter effect, and i realised quite quickly it was when loud noises suddenly happened. Like an unsilenced gun firing at close range, grenades and the terrorist bombs going off. As soon as i fitted an X-Fi there was no more lag, so i guess it was the onboard sound having to be processed through the already stressed cpu.

I get these ( and serious lag ) when the bomb goes off...
specially repetitive sound, I suppose its my audigy 2 zs? o_O

Perhaps that's it.

Whats the difference between:

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

and

Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional 7.1 Soundcard

Which might fix my issue?

a 10 quid 5.1 card would fix your issue to be honest

to make sure it is your sound causing it try disabling it in the device manager and then playing a game

between those 2 soundcards does the fatality one have the front ports ? not sure , id just get the cheapest though lol

Ive had the onboard sound fps drop too, I bought a sound blaster live for about £5 second hand and problem solved, was about 2 years ago though.
