Which is more popular today and is it as popular as CSS was 5 years ago? CSS was a HUGE time sink for me. Was my main game for years. These days, it's still vibrant with a fair amount of servers but none of the old maps really cycle through anymore :(

So yea, is CS:GO any good for a 5er?

CSS was a huge part of my gaming life, I went to 4 iSeries events playing for my eXult team and I must admit I do miss that time period. I bought CSGO hoping to get back them years but no - it felt like they had tried to make the game feel like COD?

I cant explain it but no matter how I set up my configuration I cannot get the game to feel right, I enjoyed CSGO for about 10 minutes one day but I must admit I have not given it much time.

Worth a fiver? maybe, depends what a fiver means to you. I would pay a fiver for it for but I tend to buy to many games during the sale period that I will rarely play....

Well I still jump on CSS from time to time to play on generic office servers or havana, or aztec, or italy haha. Anyway, I tried CS:GO on one of it's free weekends and I know what you mean about the feel. It didn't feel as responsive and it felt a bit... Stiff.

Thought nothing of it but hearing that from another person is enough to keep me stuck on CSS for now :)

It's still fairly active so I'm not fussed.

Yeah, it's good value for money. I still play CSS a lot more but still find the desire to play CS:GO from time to time. The "official" Arms Race (GunGame) made this game more appealing to play.

I felt that they made CSS like COD moving from 1.6

CSGO is the lesser of two evils in my opinion.

When CSS was released COD was nothing like the game we know today, in fact at the time CSS came out COD had one title that was still miles behind MOH so I don't quite agree with that, I know the jump from 1.6 to css was a change but this time it feels like they really did go backwards by looking a the COD gaming community/bad gamers ;)

Imo the controls/feel of CSS did not need to be touched, they only needs to do some graphic updates to keep with the times, the games physics have always been spot on

I know a lot of the hardcore 1.6 players could not take to CSS and I suppose this is now similar with the CSS players going to CSGO.

My apologies, I was referencing it from the angle of playing COD now days. CSS was a lot more accessible to the casual gamer and had less of a steep learning curve than 1.6. It was great to boost numbers and attempt to create a bigger player base. Great for the casual gamer but made it god awful to play because the strafe and gun was too powerful of a method to frag and crap people who did not deserve to kill you were often winning on 1on1.

I initially played it and like many went back to 1.6 which just felt more rewarding during matches.

CS GO is significantly better than CSS. I fail to see how anyone can possible give an opinion on both games if they have played very little of them , just seems mighty stupid.

1.6 is a different story ofc.

CSGO is WELL worth a 5er....I paid full whack at 11.99 and still feel like it is cheap.

Cracking game, my only gripe? Needs some new maps! Having said that they pretty much nailed it with nuke/dust2 etc etc back from CS1.6, but 'why change a good thing' can only go so far :p

CSGO is well worth £5. End of story. A worthy successor to CSS? Yes. As good as CSS was at the time of it's release? No.

I really think they should have waited until they had a new engine before they released a new Counterstrike, but still, CSGO is a nice update to CSS.

CSGO is prob worth £5

I pre-ordered it as I played CS + CSS so much but tbh I was disappointed with it :(
I've hardly played it since buying it, can't get into it. (still prefer CSS)

Can still be fun on voice comms in a mix/team tho.

I tried the matchmaking thing they implemented that is like DOTA2 and just had people in my own team saying I was cheating.

I can remember playing the beta and dismissed it straight away. Then a few months after release I purchased it. Give it some time and it is just as good as CSS. I would agree with some who say it doesn't feel quite as responsive as source but again get used to it and it feels as good.

I've racked nearly 500 hours and csgo and I think that is value for money!

Honestly I prefer css to cs:go. It doesnt seem worth its money to me. All that's been done is a texture update and a few changes the the maps.

could have been done in an update rather than selling it as a new game. Or even in DLC.

The graphics are a lot better but still far behind what I would have expected if they really wanted to bring it to the current gen.

User base of css is still huge and cs:go takes a good 5-10 mins to get into a ranked match (or even 30 min to an hour).

CS:GO is infinitely better than CS Source. Source was a complete joke of a game, especially from a competitive point of view.

I have no idea what you're talking about, I've never had to wait more than a few minutes.

I sank a lot of time into CSS back in the day, when CS:GO 1st came out i didnt like it much left it for awhile, then tried it again and now i enjoy it a lot now ive given it a fair chance :)

id say GO is better than CSS, i just wish T had the 5-7 :p

edit: also at its offer price, people are silly not to buy it. its cheaper than a fish and chips....

I've selected all match types and it takes me ages to get into one. The 30min to an hour is rare but its happened twice.

Does it get quicker once you have a rank? Or am I giving it too many options by selecting all match types?

CSS and CSGO still have a similar amount of players (if anything CSGO is more popular)

See: http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

I stand corrected on that. Sorry :( That was based on matchmaking times. (not full of **** on purpose :D)
