Ok, every now and then when I play css halfway, it will just exit the game itself and appear at the loading screen. But the thing is, it will lock my comp everytime it does that and I have to reboot the pc.

Any ideas?

I will keep a log of temps. If the lock up happens again when the temp isn't too high, what do u think is the cause of it?

Can't be temps, it happened again and this time I logged the GPU temp. When the " hang " happens again my load temp for the gpu is 72?? Which I am sure it is safe?

Im going to try playing other games and see if it locks up the same way as css does.

That is the error with SLi and playing CSS.

The thing is, if I leave the comp alone after the lockup, my pc won't show anything, the screen will just go blank.

This time I manage to get a glimpse of a pop up window.

It gave the warning, nv4_disp stopped responding.

Any ideas?

Cause it it doesn't happen with other games, then it is the problem with source engine and G80 SLi itself.

And the " nv4_disp stopped responding " error, I got that after I uninstalled the 97.44 driver, used driver cleaner and installed 97.44. And that happened on AOE3.

I am going to try one card by one card now and see if it works.

Will it still work if I unable one of the cards using device manager, or is it better to take if off the mobo itself?

Or I just disable SLI in the control panel itself and test the cards by itself?

Just out of curosity lolcb, why do you need 2x8800 gtx card. Unless you have a super whoping 30" TFT or something bigger.. Please tell me this is the case

2. Just like the idea of having 2 of the best cards in the market

3. I'm running 24" and you can't turn on all eye candy on a 24" using 1 G80.

Sorry, thought it is better that I am being truthful than coming out reasons why I bought 2 G80 cards.

I have uninstalled, used driver cleaner 3 times and installed the 97.44

I am going to try playing css now and see if the same problem happens.

Yea I understand and I appreciate the help

so far so good tho playing css, no random crashes/lock up, I will try to play for another 1-2 hrs then switch to the other card and see what happens.

FFS, I used too much force removing the dvi cable now I'm screwed. but luckily i got a vga cable around and an adapter.

But the thing is, I forgot which card I tested earlier LOL. OMG

yea Im testing the other card now, going to run 3d mark 06 soon. Then test the other card again. So far this other card is doing fine.

Ok wtf? I ran both card individually and they ran fine?

Can anyone with 8800GTX SLi, confirm with me if you are receiving the same problem as I am?

I'm going to give SLi another go.

Thanks for all the help peeps. The problem was with the X-fi audio driver. Uninstalled it, did a fresh install of the newest driver and everything is fine now. :cool:
