Ctrl Alt Del doesn't work

Simple. Ctrl + Alt + Del doesn't d oanything. Why not, and what can I do? If you need more info, please tell me what you need.

what about ctrl + shift + Esc? Which opens the task manager

You could try going to Start -> Run -> taskmgr

Sounds like Spyware. Run Windows Defender, Spybot, Adaware et al.

Try right click on taskbar -> Task Manager. Most likely spyware

Not entirely likely to help if running task manager by Ctrl Alt Del, Ctrl Shift Esc, right clicking the taskbar and running it via command prompt doesn't work, is it?

spyware scan and clean (well you better hope its that or broken kb else you are screwed and need to reinstall)

I'll scan using avasy in just a few minutes.
And Right clicking and hitting Task Manager and Run taskmgr doesnt work. BUT, the RUn one, says it is being used by another program.

One of my friends is having this exact same problem at the moment. Needless to say he's bringing me the machine on friday to have a look at and I intend on formatting it

Almost certainly a virus or spyware of some description although I did get him to run a virus check and it came back clean

It's from bungie.net so it should contain a virus should it?

Not used Avast personally, but I'm not sure it'll help you. You want something more spyware oriented than virus oriented. Download a copy of the latest Windows Defender Beta, Spybot and/or Adaware.

Did a quick scan with Defender Beta 2, only one semi bad file, got rid of it. Same problem. So now I'm doing a full scan.

Ok, just did a full scan. It found 1 severe/high threat, and deleted it.
But I still cannot access the Task Manager.

can you open Regedit Or Msconfig ?

it is almost definately spyware.

Fastest way to get rid ( if your not sure ) is to download a copy of HijackThis from http://www.merijn.org/ .

Put it in its own folder then run a scan ( dont fix anything unless you know what your doing ), save the log. Then post the log on a PC security site, like the one in my sig ( but there are plenty more out there ).

Their spyware experts will then be able to see whats running on your system and tell you how to get rid.

Formatting should be a last alternative ( in my opinion). Unless you have an image of your pc.

I get the message that it is being used by another program when I Run -> Regedit, but MSconfig works.
I'm dling the program.
