Right so i purchased my CTS, just wondering how to fit it, easy/hard?

havent really checked out the engine bay, know where abouts it is though :)

another question:
Does anyone know what engines fit into 99' Rover 214i 16v

plan to come into some money and wondering what the best engine to convert into it could be, sensible suggestions would be appriciated ;)

The coolant temp sensor will probably be lcoated somewhere around the thermostat housing, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

Any K series engine will fit pretty much straight in, so you have the choice of the 1.4 (~105bhp), 1.6 (~110-115bhp), 1.8 (~120bhp), 1.8VVC (up to 160bhp depending on spec), or if you are feel very rich or happen to get very lucky the 1.8 VHPD engine as used by Caterham etc. is around 190bhp.

The 2.5L KV6 (up to 187bhp) might fit into a 200, I'm sure someone else will know.

cheers guys
probably wanna convert to a turbo in all fairness, maybe :p

is there any guides/tutorials on how to fit these sensors, mine came this morning and i wanna get it in there quickly so i can drive without having to worry :)

Thanks
G.

Don't go turbo. Everyone has a turbo these days. Boring sods :p

Supercharge a 1.8 VVC K-series instead!!!

You see next to the airbox, the big metal silver pipe running towards the back of the engine...

Sticking out the front of that is a black connector block, there's also one a bit further back. The CTS for the ECU is the one further back, pointing to the back of the car.

You need to remove the airbox, get a spanner (22mm I think) and undo the sensor. Unplug the connector, put the new sensor in and swap connectors.

Do it when the engine is stone cold, otherwise you'll have coolant escape everywhere and don't overtighten it.

If you've got the right CTS (some people get confused), it'll have a little sliding cylinder around the middle part of the sensor... like this...

And while we're posting pictures of Rovers...

Forgotten what mine used to look like

thanks for the help, but i dont seem to have the cylinder around the middle? this is what i got through the post...

i should go look in my engine bay soon, what am i actually looking for?

how easy would it be (for example ;) ) to put a 1.8 Supercharged engine into my car

thanks for all the help :p

Hmmm, you seem to have recieved the temp sensor for the gauge on the dash :(

Loads of places make that mistake... even if you TELL them you want the one for the ECU.

Where did you buy it from? Is the one on the left from your engine, or is that the one from the scrappy?

I'm trying to find a better picture of the engine bay but don't seem to have one on my webspace :( You're looking for the black connector just under the distributor cap, connected to the big silver pipe that runs to the back of the engine directly next to the left hand side of the airbox.

Hope that helps :)

Oh, and dropping a 1.8 K series in is very easy, as they use the same engine mounts and subframe. Supercharging it will be a bit more difficult, but still possible

So these two sensors wont fix the problem????

they are both what i recived from "parts gateway" sponsors of rovertech?

do i need to go back to them and change it? :(

might just buy a new car  lol

Ohhh, I thought the one on the left was from your car.

That one does look like the ECU's CTS, apart from it doesn't have the slidy bit... no idea what that does though.

I say, give it a shot. If it fits then I reckon it'll be fine :)

ah right so its still hopefully the right thing? fingers crossed
how long should it take approximatly? :)

You're 18, right? And you're going to supercharge/transplant/turbo your 414? Good luck with the insurance.

And i managed to insure a 220 coupe turbo at 19 , so i dont see why he couldnt.

But his will be a modified turbo, which would attract a much higher premium, would it not?
