I used to have a 17" CTX crt monitor which developed a problem where the screen was too dark. Even on high brightness and contrast settings it was still too dark to make out any detail on all but the brightest pictures. Thinking it was a one off I replaced it with a CTX 19" CRT. Now I can help thinking it's going the same way. When I first got it I had the brightness/contrast set to 40%/70%. Now I have it set to 50%/100%. And still it's nowhere near as bright as the TFT on my Laptop. Is it just a common thing that CRTs go darker over time? Is there any kind of hidden service menu I can access to increase the brightness? Or should I just replace it with a TFT?
