Had a trawl through some of the previous Cuba holiday thread, but my specific question hasn't come up:

going to cuba, travel agents have told us not to take any electronics with us as they'll get confiscated.

is this true?

while I can accept the "no americans" policy and their refusal to allow american made products/ cards, I'm somewhat skeptical about this no electronics policy.

anyone had any issues with taking digital cameras/camcorders or mp3 players?
otherwise it'll be a holiday without thepictures, and lazing on the beach with no relaxing music

Camera/recorders are fine.

Think they were a bit dodgy about mp3 players when I went in 2004-5.

Walkie talkies/radio equipment are a definite no no.

yea, i've been told they'll confiscate any electronics and we won't be getting them back :/ so just a bit wary about risking losing my nice camera, as disposable ones are just rubbish in comparison lol, and my mp3 player which goes everywhere with me

Ive been to Cuba twice and bought cameras, ipod and mobile phone with me and it wasnt a problem.

ahh fantastic, this all helps ease my mind, big family holiday, and my parents are getting a little over the top with it all, shall tell the gf to apck her fridge ;)
