Hey,

I've just started buying double/French cuff shirts so I've began wearing cufflinks and have one simple question - how are they worn?

I've been wearing mine so the mechanism (that swivels to stop it from falling out) is directly against my arm on the inside of the sleeve, so both sides of the cuff overlap. However, I've been seeing loads of people wearing them with both sides of the cufflink showing and the shirt cuff not overlapping but being "tagged" together on the outside (what I think looks awkward). So what is it - I'll let OcUK decide!

think both are right. Personally I prefer to put them inside the shirt but I found that doing that was scratching the crap out of my watch. Hence now I tend to wear them outside.

I've only ever worn them on the outside with the two parts of the cuff pinched together. Personally I don't like them on casual or business shirts, always thought it looks a bit JULF.

You know what I mean, salesmen and estate agent types.

I always wear them with the cuff "pinched together" as you describe it, with both parts of the cufflink visible.

Never seen them worn the other way.

About half my business shirts need cufflinks, and I actually quite like wearing them, certainly when I was on my placement year working for a consulting company in London they seemed to be quite the norm amoungst colleagues.

Same here. :)
And unlike buttons they never need sowing back on.

Pinched together is the correct way, and I agree with Jonny69, they should only be worn for formal occasions and probably job interviews.

I've always worn them pinched together. I saw someone wearing them the other way and it looked daft. I tried it and it wasn't comfortable at all (as well as looking daft).

Nah, the normal way is better :)

I love cufflinks, so many different crazy styles of them. Got a large assortment of them lying about the house, but for some reason all my shirts with cufflinked holes have dissappeared.

Have to go and buy some more shirts, so I can use them. Personally I think they make you look very smart and presentable. :)

Agreed, tacky. I've got some really nice ones sat here. Dark silver round ones with two lines across part of them.
