Is anybody else aware of this ********?

Basically it is an idea that people shouldn't "appropriate" the culture in dress/hairstyle etc of a culture that has been marginalized or persecuted throughout the years..

A couple of examples..

Yesterday on X-Factor:

White student assaulted for wearing dreadlocks:

Many of the people who support this idea would fall in to the category of "SJW"... Am i the only person alive that thinks this is absolute ********?

THIS is why people are voting for Donald Trump in America... And this is why i find myself becoming more and more right wing and nationalist..

Heres an example of a SJW, at a rally in america wearing a Guy Fawkes mask..

Guy Fawkes is BRITISH heritage, its a part of OUR culture.. the fact an American is using the mask is abhorrent in my eyes, especially if they take issue with a white person appropriating their culture.. Guy Fawkes intentions of blowing up the houses of parliament were completely unrelated to what people think they were..

I don't understand.

Unless you are being funny, satirical or sarcastic or whatever, how can you go on about how you think cultural apporpriation angst is a bit daft and then go on about how this american should not be appropriating british culture with a V for Vendetta mask?

That means you hate what you are? Or, is it just tit for tatt? I don't get it.

Edit: Oh, I get it now. You think a black American SJW is a hypocrite for wearing the mask. Got it.

But how do we know the person in the photo cares about what another person does with their hair?

It's trolling threads like these that just make me hope the op is actually trying to be funny and failing, rather than actually being so incredibly dumb. Sadly it's usually the later.

Yes it's a perceived form of racism, yes it's stupid.
People are stupid.
Boohoo.
Keep signing on and get on with life op.

Cultural Appropriation is the latest thing for idiots to whine about on other people's behalf while sat at a computer or on their phone in their nice heated home after eating their nourishing meal.

If these whiners spent more time helping others than crying their spoilt little hearts out, the world would be a much better place.

It's the usual rubbish which comes out of the same people who come up with this new gender pronouns because the normal ones are not good enough for them. I've even seen things where they've said you shouldn't eat xyz as that food is from another culture so doing so is appropriation .... is it ********

It all tends to start with over-privileged **That word is not allowed** doing waste of time degrees who have way to much time on their hands.

IMO it's time to heavily subsidise STEM degrees at the expense of others such as gender studies. I'm sure lots of people see university as a rite of passage these days and do rubbish degrees just for the experience of being there.

Even that is unlikely to help most of the people in this thread unfortunately.

Racism became the most over-used word in the 21st century, so they had to come up with a new name for it - cultural appropriation. The crux of this is that everything is racist, there is no exception. Bit like rule 34!

It became more used and for very good reason to most people with reasonable viewpoints.

To dismiss the value of the word - which you are intentionally doing, and in a considered way - is kind of sad. On the upside, the OP can't spell the word he dislikes so silver lining and all that :)

In all fairness, it's a word/accusation that's thrown around so casually these days that I'm not surprised that some people feel that it's losing its value.

Anyway,

:D

I get that, I do. There's probably an argument in here that people should use their words more carefully.

Point taken though :)
