Heylo.

Had my TFT for some time now and i'm wondering about maintenence. Just a couple of probably easy questions to answer:

I'm getting a stuck pixel every now and again. A little red blighter. When i rub him he goes away so it must be where the screen is touching the panel? Is there anything i should do to this little guy? Will he eventually turn in to a dead/stuck pixel? It's not really a problem right now but i dont want him to become a permanent fixture!

Also, what's the best way to clean a TFT? i dont want to put too much pressure on the panel, but you know what it's like when you sit close to the screen, and then you have a cold or cough over the winter and inevitably you end up needed to give it a clean or wipe. Any tips?

That's it really thanks :)

For stuck pixels, I heard what seemed like quite a good method was taking a pencil with a rubber on the end, and under a piece of cloth (duster or something smooth and clean) and gently poking where the stuck pixel is and the area just around it, to try and coax it back to life.

As for cleaning it, I'd advise against using a tissue as they sometimes pick up lint or bits of dirt that can scratch your screen. I use the cloth that was provided with my monitor, slightly damp and wipe til it's dry again. If you didn't get one supplied a duster or similar will do as good a job.

Alternatively you can buy 'lcd cleaner' solutions from various places online or your local computer shop :)
