Ive finally put my main pc back together again only to be faced with a couple of curious issue's

Issue 1

when tying to install Windows 7 the system would not allow me to load it onto a hard drive while i have the main Sata Controller set up for Raid for which the system was using preveously.
I was looking to install a new copy on a differrent drive and recover my saved files etc from my old installation which just will not boot anymore.

Yet by setting the contraoller to achac or whatever its called it allowed me to install windows on the new drive without any issue.

Issue 2

Now windows is installed and im slowly adding in the main programs i was using before ive noticed the clock is losing time, ive just had to update it via internet time as it was a good 20 mins behind.

Im looking to see if anyone here has had a similar issue and if so what was causing it. So far i can only come up with 2 idea's

idea 1 as the system clock need continual updating the bios battery is needing replace, which wont cost me anything as i have a few old mobos around that i can just swap it out.

idea 2 this is a warning from the mobo in it own little way to advise me its time to look for a replacement before it goe's belly up completely.

If it also starts to lose BIOS settings and you need to keep loading defaults everytime it starts to boot, then thats classic battery failure.

Well lets hope not as changing bios settings everytime to boot up would be a complete pain.

However ive changed the bios battery to see if thats whats causing the time issue, if it solves it i might try and see if i can get win 7 to install on a raid system again in this system.

Maybe the crystal on the board that vibrates and controls the time is dying?

Looks like its time to save up for a new mobo and ram to go with it

Thankfully i have an AMd Phenom II X6 1090t sitting in my spare system, i will just have to swap over the cpu's and add my ram from this machine to it also.
