Curious loss of fps

So i changed my 1440p monitor for 3x 1080p (play a lot of flight sims), however
one of the monitors is doa so I only have one connected atm via HDMI

Now on world of tanks I used to get 80-90fps with my settings at 1440p, but now I only get 50-55 at 1080p but the same settings AA etc.. same with GTA4, used to get 90ish now only 55

The only thing that has changed is that I am using a HDMI cable isntead of the DVI-D, could that really cause such a loss? (I don't have another DVI cable atm to test)

No, the cable wouldn't cause any frame rate loss...

Maybe more CPU limited at a lower res given yours cards aren't working as hard at 1080p and you've got tri-fire 290x.

Check crossfire still enabled

You'd be pushing a lot more pixels with 3x 1080p (5760x1080 = 6,220,800 pixels) vs 1440p (2560x1440 = 3,686,400)

What GPU usage are you getting, 100%? Vsync or other frame limit not turned on?

Vsync is off, cpu use hovers around 30% one core, the rest 0-5%, the GPU usage hovers around 27-30%

vram use is only 1.1gb, system ram 2.9gb, pagefile 2.9gb.

If i turn vsync on it sticks to 60fps, if i turn it off it doesnt go higher :/

Looks like the FPS is limited somehow then. Not in Afterburner or Precision X for some reason?

Odd, i checked Nvidia control panel and told it to force vsync off, no change.
I updated this Geforce experience thingy to the latest and now its fine 120fps+
