Seen few people talk about 3D on and off forums. Just wanted to get point of view. Is 3D everything everyone made it up to be. As I've watched movies in theaters and gaming on 3D monitor. After checking out 3D with all the hype, wasnt too impressed.

My opinion - in some situations 3D can be cool, but if I was going to spend £300+ on a 120Hz monitor I will be playing it in super smooth 120Hz "2D" mode not 60Hz 3D mode.

The effect itself is pretty good - from having a play tho you really need a big screen for the best effect - comparing my projector with a 100" picture in 3D against the Samsung 2233RZ theres a massive difference in the immersion.

That said most people are unlikely to find it that useful for day to day/frequent use - definitely not the next step in gaming prefering to play in regular "2D".

Definetly don't think i would spend the like £1200+ish to be able to view my games in 3d... i've never been too impressed with cinema 3d, so don't think this would be any different ;)

I think its another phase like the 80's and will die off in a couple of years time.

TV manufactures have admitted they cant shift there 3d sets when compared to normal LED/LCD sets. Nvidia's sales on 3d havnt been that impressive.

All these tv's use there own glasses and cost upwards £80+. Also the glasses only work for your make which means if my mates has a Samsung and I have a Toshiba they wont work with each other. Also to buy a set of glasses for a member of my family and a few extra for friends will mount up.

Theres no unified standard which everyone is following, everyones doing there own thing.

Yea its another phase, but not a bad one, creating enthusiasm and increasing adoption of weird and wonderful technologies is a handy aspect of the tech industry, all 3-d needs has been boiled down to 3 things, a great gpu, a 120hz plus tv, and in-expensive glassware,

Pushing 120hz tv's as a new standard will mean that anyone with a pc beneath their desk in a few years time will need to do is sort out the glasses end of things, which hopefully will have a unified solution by then.

So i dont think it will be on everyones agenda to go 3d for pc use in the near future it will be an option that will be close at hand.

very tru. Lol I remember how pi**ed off I got when paying £16 to watch clash of the titans in 3D and it was most uhum 3D ive seen in my life. I was so dissappointed that thought check out 3D tv and monitors and see if they are the same. Although 3D gaming was probably the best out of all but still, that £16 was probably the last £16 of mine that is going on something 3D in a long time.

Before I bought this TV the sales person in PC World was trying to impress me and my mates with the top of the range 3D TV £3500. Put it this way, it was so embarrasing, we sat there for 20 mins while he was playing all the best 3D films,we all huffed and puffed when we got bored and moved on swiftly. Felt sorry for the sales guy, he could tell by looking at us how unimpressed we were as we were mumbling to each other "Sooo, which part of it was meant to be 3D? or is the part coming?" lol
