Current account switching Bonus

Why does it harm credit score? Although I believe it's the case, I don't think it should be as it disincentivises competition.

Constantly opening and closing bank accounts and having multiple hard searches in a short space of time. That's if you do loads in one go like I just did. But meh. Score won't be impacted that much I doubt. I will update in a few months. It usually recovers after 12 months so I am told.

Done it a bunch of times, fairly easy and I have no loyalty to a certain bank. Though I've probably run out of eligible offers now.

Edit - most of the offers were done before buying my first house and seemingly no impact.

I made £1600 doing switches around 2023. Kept my main account with all my normal DDs untouched, just moved other accounts around.

Only thing that hit my credit sore were the Natwest group banks, they did hard searches. To be clear this only affects your credit "score" which is made up by the agencies. A mortgage provider shouldn't be interested in the score, rather than what is in your report, i.e. missed payments.

Started in December and I will have done 7 switches and 1 sign up only deal maxing out all the available ones currently to me.
I stand to make £1695.
If Natwest/RBS or HSBC do one I can also do them.

A few years ago we ignored all the emails and letters from RBS for our business account switch. Eventually they offered us £6k.... Well if they sent the first one saying that we would have closed straight away. The funny thing was we had already switched the Barclays and were only using RBS as a landing account for one contract we had...

I was going to switch to Lloyds for the £200 + £50 referral but the £200 offer finished earlier this month. How often do Lloyds do the switch promotion?

Also does this work with starling or you habe to use a high street bank?

Fairly regularly, don't stress about missing them as there is nearly always a next time.

Switching from Starling should be fine, just make sure it has all the requirements.

Having just recently joined Chase to use for burner accounts, I have a few referral codes left where you get an instant £50 if you join using the code and deposit £1000. (Can take money straight back out). Can these be listed on OCUK forums under any categories like the vouchers sub forum?

Thanks Maccy I did genuinely search rules in members market, but when I did a ctl F on "refer" previously found nothing! :O I must have been using an old link maybe inside a sub forum.

Sounds like I can say here that I have chase referral codes and that if anyone wants one to request it from me via private message.
