AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (Socket 939) - OEM
What sort of clocks are people getting with the ones on special offer.
My 3700SD craps out at 2.7 so thinking of getting one for the cash.
Any views

it's really not worth spending money to go from 2.7 to 3.0 though. Better off with dual core upgrade, so either source a good clocking X2 or just take the jump to C2D. If you must have a 4000+ wait till next month and i'll sell you mine from my second rig, it'll do 3.0 on stock volts and 3.2 with 1.425V and still stay well under 50C with just a freezer64 modded with a yate loon 120mm fan. My case also has only 1 80mm exhauxt on it cos it's my silent runner, so it's not as if i have very good airflow. The 4000+ is definately the best single core cpu around.

3.2ghz easy peasey with my 3700sd
but its at 2.75 as gpu sucks and at 3.2 didnt make a difference too games
1.6 volts for 3.2
1.55 for 3.0
1.50 for 2.75

I had 10 kab1e 4000 oem san diego's all did 3ghz on 1.4v or below, very good stepping if you can find them.

I hate you all I carn't get past 2.4Ghz on my 2x4800, well I can but I carn't get past trying to load Windows.

If i needed dual core i would be running an X2, for me a faster single core is more benafitial.
My 3700SD needs 1.55 (max for my Mobo) to hit 2.7 (stable in all but prime)
and temps arnt a problem as it idles in the very low 30's and load only goes to 42 max.
So does anybody think its worth £60 to go from a 3700SD at 2.65 (fully prime stable) to a 4000SD at possibly 3.0 ?
(i play RTW & LOMAC, both very CPU dependant)

I think you would be as well off hanging in there. The £65 odd bucks it would cost you wouldn't give you much bang.

Its not a massive increase but if you can sell your 3700 for a decent price it would be a cheap boost to performance, i sold my 3700sd for £10 more than my 4000sd cost me, the shop has since changed its buy prices dramatically :p
