current best 21** stepping from ocuk

Only the 2180 & new 2200's are guaranteed those steppings, there are M0 stepping 2140's & 2160's out there but its a bit of a lottery getting one.

I've fitted an E2160 (mine) and an E2180 (a mates) in the last week, both from OcUK. Both were M0. I just wish I had gotten the E2180 myself, it clocks fantasticly well, 3.2Ghz on stock voltage and cooling is the nuts.

So that would be um . . . 420x8= 3360MHz?

If so thats still a nice clock, I will have to have a little test with my old E2140 that just sitting in a cupboard doing nothing! :o

Didn't really push it higher than 400MHz-FSB so unsure if it has an FSB wall?

Most seem to have an unpassable wall at about 420-430MHz, though there's some that are as low as about 320-330MHz.
Oh that's interesting, I always thought that the E2140 was the chip to have from this range but if what you say about the FSB wall is true it makes a good arguement for the E2160.

I think the E2xxx chips can hit 3600MHz but on an E2140 that would mean an FSB of 450MHz whereas on the E2160 you would need just a 400MHz-FSB, Hmm will have to do some testing, depending on the results I may grab an E2160 and try for 3600MHz!

I'd love to buy an E2140, but really want an M0 stepping CPU. What do you think guys, worth the lottery risk of receiving a 2140 M0, or play safe with a 2180?

The M0's run cooler and seem to overclock better from what I've read.

My own M0 E2140 is one of the coolest chips I've ever owned at 3Ghz plus, so I think they're worth seeking out.
