Current Best Online FPS

So I've just bought a super fast computer having not played PC games for around 10 years. Excited to play VR and normal games! Used to love online FPS's and back in those days, it was all about Battlefield 2 (I prefered the stealthy ones to the fast blasting ones like unreal tournament)...

Simple question, what's the best nowadays? Surprisingly couldn't find a decent round up of current online FPS searching google... I know Battlefield 5 is out- is it the best?

How come BF1 is better than all the subsequent ones- they haven't improved on it in all these years?

Do they still support BF1, servers etc?
