i am way behind the times with the current set up of systems and i have got a 9800 pro in my comp but i am upgrading to a skt 939 mobo with pci e gfx so what cards can you recommend i aint looking at spending a fortune just enough to get a better gfx card than i have now

You'll be hard pushed to get a pci-e card worse than the 9800pro, what's your budget?

The only thing I'd steer clear of are the x300 and x700's from ATI.

and the 6200's and 7300gs from nvidia.

The rest should be fine :)

To be honest the only real deals at the moment are on the x1800xt and the 7600GT, but if you're going to spend £117 on the 76-- then it's worth spending more and going for the x1800xt. These will knock the SOCKS off that 9800pro.

If you really want similar/just a little more performance, then go for a 7600GS, but it really isn't going to be anything special.

7300gt is twice as fast as your 9800card. if you have a 100 quid budget then get a 7600gt.

I thought I was probably a bit off, the whole scale of this is a bit funny you see :p

Isnt it only the 7300GT with DDR3 that will be faster than a 9800 pro.
Surely the standard 7300GT will be same or slwoer than a 9800pro.

Hard to tell, but you're certainly right that 7300GT performance varies wildly from one card to another. There's a huge difference in performance from the lowest (350GPU, 333 "666" RAM) to the highest (575GPU, 750 "1500" RAM).
