I've been out of the PC gaming for quite some time since the Black Ops 2 days but want to get back into Advanced Warfare.

My current PC is:
- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz
- 16GB RAM
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 770
- Windows 8.1

Have not upgraded in a long time. I launch the game and it's choppy. Is the game bottle-necked by the CPU or the graphics card? It's just not smooth and I really have to lower the video settings to have smooth game play and frame rates.

What can I do to improve this? Is there a recommended upgrade route?

I would see no reason why it would be ok to be honest. I did see something about Advanced Warfare being a bit buggy. Wouldn't surprise me

With my current rig I am still able to play games at medium/high so I don't see why you wouldn't. If a game is buggy nothing will run it any better

Your pc specs are still pretty good. You should be playing advanced warfare at very nice frame rates. Maybe check to make sure you haven't accidentally turned on any video settings that kill performance? (Very high amounts of AA in nvidia control panel for instance). Maybe turn vsync off and see if that makes a difference if you have it turned on?

Agree with the others, however I'd get yourself a new heatsink/fan combo or AIO and cloooock that 2500k - they are made to be overclocked and you might see a bit of a gain here and there
Also try an nvidia driver update if you haven't already
