Current processors vs my current one

I would be intending on overclocking the new one also, I didnt know if there was room for it on the new ones like the E6300 does

Just seen on another post that someone with E2200 capped out at 3Ghz :(

Agree, only relatively large performance boost would be from getting something like an e7200 and clocking it above 3.6ghz or possibly even a 2nd hand e6600/e6700 TBH.

Obviously a quad would be another option but you'd only notice a large difference when encoding stuff.

If i were you i'd probably not worry and just stick with the e6300. Nice chips! :)

It's a wise move, you've got a decent overclock on the E6300, can't complain at a CPU still being good after 18 months. :D

Best off with more memory and faster graphics, they are always the most fun.

Pretty much, its been 18 months since I got it, just seeing if current processors were better for around the same price

I'll stay where i am :D

A good move because your E6300 has a lot more L2 cache that the other two (3mb more than the E2*** series and 2mb more than the E4*** series). You may be able to clock the other two but you could never add the cache.

Well if you want to get worse CPU then change it hahaha.

If you want to upgrade then your first big step will be getting the E8400 which is extremely cheap at this point. Other than that, even the E7200 won't be worth it that much.
