Sky are currently offering a sweet deal on their 'Sky Broadband Unlimited with Sky Talk Freetime' package. (Note, I already have Sky TV.)

I'm currently paying £14.15 for 'PlusNet Broadband Your Way Option 2 with included 15GB bandwidth', which is 8MB max.

So 20MB, unlimited bandwidth free for 6 months then £10 per month seems like a very good deal.

SamKnows indicates that my local exchange supports Sky LLU, but it can't seem to give any info on my particular road.

Is this really a sweet deal, or am I missing something?

Yes it's a good deal, and generally a decent service. There's no catch, broadband might not be profitable for them but they're making money out of you with the other services.

Beyond your exchange having been unbundled by Sky/Easynet what road you're on makes no difference, the service is delivered via your BT phone line. So subject to the same variables as your current ADSL service, i.e. how close you get to 20mb will depend on the quality of your phone line.

i've been on the sky broadband unlimited for a couple of years now and can't fault it

i've tested it a few times and it really is unlimited ;)

although it seems i'm only able to get a max of 8mb in my area, never seen any near 20mb :(

I too am looking into this offer,

Does anyone know what the procedure it to switching over to them from BT

The line rental and stuff, or do they sort that for you?

They sort it all for you in almost all cases, best bet is to ring them -->DURING PEAK HOURS<-- and ask.

Unless you want Mr. "John" to answer you who sounds suspiciously far away...

If it's 20MB for me, then I think that I will go for this. Getting full Sky Player functionality thrown in is another bonus.

There service was very bare when they started, but they now have webmail access, web space and other stuff, so I think it is worth a punt!

Just done a check on SamKnows, and for my house it reports:

ADSL available at ~5.5Mbps
ADSL2+ available at ~7Mbps

That sucks... is this the speed I should really expect for Sky Unlimited? It says that I am 1.06km from Mountwood (LVMOU) exchange. But then on another page it says that my exchange does not support ADSL2+. I'm confused! Or is LLU totally different?

You can get Sky Unlimited on your exchange.

I wouldn't take the speed checks as gospel Samknows, Sky & BT all said I could only get 5.5Mbps but I'm connected at 13567kbps approx 1122m away from our exchange too. As for the deal, if your already with Sky TV then it is well worth it, I've been with Sky BB since July & haven't had one slightest problem, Speeds are always what they should be & not had one complaint from Sky about my usage :)
