Hey folks,

Have we got any word on how long the LGA 1700 and AM5 sockets will remain relevant, assuming we take a good motherboard from today with solid power delivery and modern PCI-E provision?

I'm considering an upgrade in the near future, but it would be nice if I could plan ahead for a just CPU swap in another 3-4 years :D

Thanks!

LGA1700 is pretty much done for after Raptor Lake. Like AM4, AMD's AM5 is new and will last a few generations more than Intel sockets hopefully.

Useful to know... as much as I sort of like Intel's P+E core design and reckon the 13600K is probably going to be a gem, a future upgrade path would be nice.

AM5 boards be a bit pricy though, I hope they come down a bit before xmas :(

They'll certainly drop in price like everything else does eventually. I've been watching prices almost daily and positive signs. Give it a few more months.
