hey guys, been with aquiss which is a great service (better than orange:mad:)

I always liked my cable, but when I moved house i couldnt get it.......until i just checked now...I CAN:eek::D

Before I move, though I notice its not as good as NTL was?

Can I have your views on virgin broadband: I will be using it mainly to play eve online, download and surf!

Thanks:)

Depends where you live and whether the UBR you'll be using is oversubscribed. I've got a friend on the 20Mb service in Peterborough who's happy with it and gets upwards of 16Mb all the time, though there are no guarantees you'd get the same service as him.

You might also want to look at what LLU providers you have available (if any). You may be able to get decent speeds and service from Be/o2/Sky, and generally they're better value than Virgin.

Im actually paying £24.99 for the gaming service with aquiss, although good im surpised i can get virgin now (ive always loved cable!:o)

thats with 8mb (I can only get 6mb)

So surely with 20mb I gonna be a bit of alright :p

virgin is fantastic when it works.....getting it fixed when its broke it another story.

i had 18months of problems as my UBR was broke and it took them that long to fix it but since then it's been 20mb 95% of the time with good pings.

for the price its a bargain, well the special price i pay is anyway :P

Again it depends on where you live. My 20Mb is good for 7Mb at the best of times, right now it's struggling to get over 1Mb :)

Cable broadband is great when it works, but when it doesn't you'll find VM to be one of the worst ISPs out there.

is there anything in the rumor that 20 is to become 50 by the summer?
20 won't become 50 anytime soon. 50Mb will be introduced at a higher price point (£47pm aparently). It'll require new line cards to be installed in UBRs (to support DOCSIS 3.0) and new modems to be supplied to customers, so chances are it'll be quite a prolonged rollout.

virgin have stated 4mb to become 10mb next month

Do your homework. The quality of Virgin's service varies enormously depending on where you live. If your area is oversubscribed, the service is terrible. In other areas, you'll get a solid 20meg 24/7. Cableforum is a good place to look (although be aware that people whinging are over-represented in the population)
