So the announcment this week of the new 7820x got my attention.

Do we have any idea roughly how much better this will be than my current cpu?

I use my rig to game in 4k and encode 4k videos and work in Photoshop and Lightroom all while it encodes 8 CCTV camera's..

Current Set up is

5930k
1080TI
64gb DDR4
Strix x99 Motherboard
Corsair 1000w PSU

Cheers Yall

Thanks for the advice, i guess im old school, AMD in my youth kept up with intel but ever since, they have just been budget, Ryzen looked decent but hasnt really lived upto the hype.

Totally fine with one LOL

It does everything i ask, but asking it to do so much, im always on the prowel for more power

Ok so sounds like Threat Dropper might be my first AMD CPU in a good 15 or so years them.

Any ideads when it's likey to drop?

For your workload, I would put a second PC together. I use two PC's as its's better for my work and I spread the work over both. Threadripper looks to be the best option as it has more PCI-E/cores/RAM + MM will have lots of R7's for sale:)
but the one pc i run does it all, there isnt a "NEED" to upgrade, more of a despire to have a little more headroom , so if the 1800 is faster than the 5930k, then there would be even less of a need to build a second.
