I have a itching in my wallet saying I need a new graphics card so I need some advice :)

I currently have a 680 4GB what would be a good upgrade? Both monitors are 1080P I have no intent to upgrade them in a hurry.

I just hopped from 680s in SLi to 970s in SLi. There is about 70% improvement in 3dMark. DSR allows me to run Elite Dangerous at 3840x2160 at 60fps solid now, where as I was around 30-40.
Expensive, but I am feeling that Witcher 3, GTA 5 etc at max detail will benefit.

970 would be the obvious choice but depending on budget a second hand 680 for sli could be another option

If pennies are tight and you can source one, I would suggest the 2nd second hand 680 as well in that case. I would expect the sli 680s to at least be on par with a single 970 (I didn't even consider checking that out during the install process!). Of course, this is assuming your mobo can support SLi and your PSU is up to it (700w min I think?)

If your system is up to it then I would get another 4GB 680. Quick hint when looking for 4GB cards, search twice, for 4GB and 4096MB.

If not then 290 or 970.

GTX 970 or r9 290x if you want a single card setup (and can afford it), if no, another 680. Make sure your motherboard is SLI compatible, and you have enough PCI-E power connectors on your power supply.

go SLI for cheap, if you can source a 4GB 680 you will be laughing its going to cost you around £120 assuming you have a PSU and SLI capable motherboard

More than suitable for playing everything on max settings @ 1080p . My 670's are clocked to 680 performance, they can easily cope with heavy demanding games assuming the game is multi-gpu compatible and the SLI profile is decent (more common to find decent SLI support now days too!) and drive my 144hz monitor perfectly.

290x should smash anything at 1080p. The 970 would have been a better option as it runs a lot cooler but it is having a few issues regarding vram which is likely cause by hardware and so a driver update will not fix it. For that reason it may be best staying clear for a while.

If sticking at 1920x1080 I would suggest grabbing another GTX680 on the cheap for SLI and saving the rest for when you get a higher res monitor.

I am currently using a EVGA atm in my 680 and I misquoted I have the 2GB card :(... I could have swore i had the 4GB..

But I think a 980 is overkill as I am not moving to 4k in a hurry.

So realistically I am looking at the 970 or a 290X
