Anyone recommend a couple of utilities to recover a corrupted HD?

The machine blue screens on bootup hence I've not tried fixboot/fixmbr

But I'm gonna pop out and try to get a copy of norton utilities, whack the hd into another machine and see if I can recover the files that way.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Quite possible but it won't boot from safe mode and I have copy of Vista B2 on another partion which reports the C: drive as having:
Capacity: 0
Used: 0
Free: 0

So I suspect it's the partition table. Seemed to corrupt when I used system restore. Could have been because the restore point was made before I split the partition with partition magic to instal Vista on.

This give any clues ?

Didn't think it was worth trying since it does start to boot windows but since you mention it I thought I'd give it a go but once you enter the recovery console it asks you which OS you want to log into. Recovery console only shows d:\windows which is the Vista installation :(

May just have to remove the drive and stick it in this machine and try some tools life file scavenger^^^
