Hi, I have googled this and I feel silly asking but I don't know what width curtains to buy? The living room window length is 117" inside the recess. I didn't know (until yesterday) that curtain sizes on the packet are per panel. The top of the curtains I want eyelets. Thanks in advance.

if you ask where you are buying the curtains they will advise but I believe its 1-1.5x the window width per curtain as you don't want them tight when they are closed.

also don't get an extendable curtain rail as they have a lip where they extend from.

We just bought some off the shelf from next. 135cm wide Eyelet... Only when you put them on a pole. They wont go to 135cm and only about 110cm due to the way it concertinas through the pole.

I've always been told to times the width of your window by 1.5 to get your ideal total curtain width.

Also remember that the width measurement on the packet is for each curtain so times the width on the packet by 2.

Drop wise the measurement on the packet will normally be from the top of the eyelet to the bottom of the curtain the bit of curtain material from the top of the eyelet to the top of the curtain isn't counted as part of the drop (unless they are really cheap curtains!!!!)

Finally always buy black out curtains. Why people buy non black out curtains which let light through I've no idea.

My pole is 56" Finial to Finial and my eyelet curtains are 46" wide each. This gives a nice easy wavy look when closed.
