Curtains with very little space above window

Hi all,

I want to put up some curtains as the blinds are not doing the best job.

However, I have very little space with one of the windows. There is a wardrobe right to the side so I can't give it the customary 15-30cm of space. Any tips on what to do with this window?

Sure I could mount a rail but it's going to end up looking terrible if the curtains are all bunched up to the right hand side......

Recessed Roman blind may be an option.

Get a roller blackout blind? Assuming your goal is to cut out the light.

The blinds were made to cut out the light and are doing a poor job. Rather just get curtains......

You can get blackout blinds that will go completely flush to the window recess and let no light at all through. I do remember a very nice one from a home cinema build thread here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/posts/29808441 (scroll down to the youtube video).

We brought this one to use in our bedroom and it’s very effective at blocking out light. There is a street lamp right on the corner of our garden at roof height and we don’t need to use curtains at all.

Example in our walk in wardrobe.

I wanted to maximise the wardrobe space without losing the window. To avoid ordering bespoke curtains to fit it's actually a pair of curtains but the last eye of one overlaps the first eye of the second so they open and close as one curtain.
