In my living room I have a bay window that is rectangular with small windows on the sides and then large main window.

I have a large wooden venetian blind on the main window but I also want to add curtains.

I would like this to be one track all the way around with curtains on each side that can then be drawn around on a curved track/pole.

  • Does anyone have experience of a curved curtain track or recommendations of where to buy from?
From memory the window is about 2m wide and probably just under a meter deep.

Thanks

I have a bay window here, used a long track for main window & a small track for each side widow.
As for curtains I got one wide pair for the main window, & one small pair, but wide enough to give you some gather using one for each side window.

Did try one long track & curve it around the bay, didn't look right, other half wanted to use to pairs of curtains on one track, which was awkward, plus you couldn't anchor the main pair.

Eventually will go in for vertical blinds, more practical for a bay window.

We fitted a curved curtain rail in our bay window. It was not easy. I would strongly suggest if you do having a heat gun/hair dryer to soften the rail enough to bend it. Would also suggest a can of spray silicon(e?) to help with it sliding.

We have a bay like that, single curtain track that curves round the bay.
I didn't fit it, we got it fitted when we bough the curtains but it looks a simple job.

We have 2 bay windows here and have had track fitted, made to the shape of the bay but was £300ish for both :o

Was a local company in Norwich and it is very good and the best track ive had but of course paid through the nose for it!

Sounds like it is going to be another expensive job. Getting the blind done was bad enough as that was a custom size due to no shops having anything long enough to even cut down.

chipperhead - that looks ideal. At least the option is out there, Googling for 'curved curtain rail' wasn't giving me the results I wanted.

Looks like I have to get some quotes and save some money. :D

I just used a normal plastic one that was long enough to fit round the curvature of the bay. It works, but there was a lot of swearing involved in putting it up!

I had a few done a few (well more like 14 :O) years ago - gave a blacksmith the dimensions and they did the rails , ends and rings for a very reasonable price - may be worth a try :)

I have a bay window and just got one of those bendy plastic curtain rails from argos.

If you get one of those you will ideally need a drill to make the holes for the wallplugs to go in the ceiling
I got a crappy £15 argos drill with a hammer function for stonework and it worked great the default bit it came with was the perfect size for the wallplugs

It's actually a pretty good drill for the money
It has a reverse function so brilliant if you have screwdriver bits to stick in it (poundshop do them)
The trigger is not just on/off either the more you press it the faster the drill motor goes which is great

Really hard to get up though and the rail comes rolled up in a circle though so it wants to bend and not stay straight which makes putting it up really challenging.

putting the rail holders in the ceiling via the supplied wallplugs was easy , attaching the rail that wants to bend to them was not, I managed it solo but it would be so much simplies with someone to stop the rail trying to bend whilst you click it into the holders and tighten the screws that grip the rail in place
