Spotted this whilst looking through tftcentral.

AU Optronics have some limited information available as well. There are 30” and 35” ultra-wide curved panels coming in Q3 and Q2 respectively. These will be VA panel technology with 3440 x 1440 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate which would be a first at that resolution. In fact, this would push things beyond DP 1.2 bandwidth limitations as we understand it, so this might require the forthcoming DP 1.3 interface to be practical. In other specs they panels also offer 3000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 172/178 viewing angles and 2000R curvature.

Our detailed panel parts database has been updated as best we can with the new information.

Looks like DP1.3 will be coming soon, hopefully new graphics will have to suit too :)

Saw this on techpowerup a couple of weeks ago but it mentions samsung instead of AU Optronics. Maybe samsung will use AU Optronics panels in there monitors but i was assuming these would be samsung panels as they do make there own?

Either way its pretty exciting if true. I'm worried about response times given that they are VA panels so hopefully they have done something to lower them drastically.

That article is just a misunderstanding. https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=29099806&postcount=14

Samsung do have their own 34" 3440 x 1440 SVA panels in development, which will be 100Hz, but they have not yet announced any monitors. The TPU author just crossed wires somewhere along the lines.

Why VA though? Have AUO finally realised they just can't do IPS so have given up? Their efforts so far have been rather pathetic I must say. The LG LM375UW1 panel looks interesting though, especially with that new 3840 x 1600 resolution, although 37.5" is BIG for a monitor. I'm surprised we haven't had any word about 4K 120Hz panels yet, which must be in the pipeline, as surely they will be in big demand once the new GPUs land. Part of me suspects there's a whole load of stuff being kept under wraps though, as once word gets out, it will make what's available today somewhat less appealing given the leap in performance DP 1.3 will bring.
