Hey all so im on the look out for a curved monitor i just dont know what size to go for that wont look stupid on my desk.
I tried a mates asus predator 32" 4k2k screen and its way too big for my desk and rather than moving my eyes to see it i have to move my entire head to see everything on the screen which isnt what i want so i wondered whats the difference between a curved and normal screen i mean in size atm i have a 18.5 led acer. Im not too fussed on 4k as i dont have a 4k gfx card..

So i wondered whats the difference in size ie what would a 27" curved be equivalent to and so on.

Hi, you could take a look at Samsung new 27" curved gaming monitors, C27FG70 which is 1920x1080, or C27HG70 which is 2560x1440 coming soon to OCUK.

Both are FreeSync or can be used in 144hz 1ms MPRT mode which is new Samsung exclusive tech which reduces motion blur through 4 channel backlight scanning (basically as the LCD screen refreshes and the LCDs change colour from frame to frame, the backlight is turned off as the pixel changes colour so you see each frame as it's meant to be seen (or as close as possible). This reduces motion blur and tearing. Both monitors have quantum technology with 125% sRGB and the CHG70 is also HDR10. Black are blacker with a deepest black level at 0.05Nit compared to competitor IPS panels at ~0.1nit, and static contrast ratios are 3000:1 compared to TN/IPS panels at 1000:1.

If you're not after a pro-gaming monitor we also have C27H711 which is QHD quantum dot, or C27F591 which is FHD 119% sRGB with 2x 5w speakers, or C27F390 which is the base 27" curved model.

The C27FG70 which is 1920x1080, or C27HG70 which is 2560x1440 look awesome but the stands are huge. which means il prob have it close to me so it fits

I just dont know now mates are saying go with a normal screen as wont benefit from a curve one unless its huge. I only wanted a curve one because it looked funky.

I think the general mindset on curved is that if you are sitting close enough to get the immersive feel its a no brainer

for me personally I don't get curved TV's, you sit too far away to gain what I think is the main benefit - immersion. 29" is just big enough to give you this feel but not too intrusive on the desk space

Hey all.

I have limited knowledge regarding all this i normally take a gamble and it either works or dosnt anyway atm i have a 18.5" monitor. I play games for fun websurf ya know the ones.

Wanted to know whats the main difference between curved monitors vs normal vs widescreen.

I like the look of the curved screens they look funky but someone said they do the job but not that well and are more of a new trend thing.

Normal screens they do what they do very well since day one so must be doing right. ( I tried a mates 32" acer predator 4k2k thing and yeah its amazing but wayy too big for me.)

Widescreens someone said there like a squished normal one so in theroy do the same thing just more sidewards than up and down.

As said what i know i could prob fit on a couple stamps. So thoughts ideas what sizes would be awesome.

Well i sit say 50-60cm from the screen atm dunno if that matters
I sit approx 60 cm from my monitor, I went with the above LG that That Daniel mentioned (It was on offer!)but in 34" flavor
Its pretty massive I think a 29" version would be just perfect fro a blend of size, immersion, and good quality due to the panel etc

Its certainly something to consider, I think of a monitor as an "Investment" I know its something that i should keep for years and years unlike say an SSD that will be replaced every 18 months at this rate :D

Ohh i get that think had my monitor 6-8 years.

What are wide screens like for gaming and web surfing

I cant really comment on any but the one I have:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-3...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-14c-lg.html

(There a 100 quid off offer floating about on the forum)

For gaming ti totally make you feel like your "there" It's much more immersive.

Due to it still being 1080P based I haven't noticed any FPS loss really.

Web surfing the size is big enough that what i have now started doing is having two pages next to each other, IE watching youtube on one side and surfing on the other etc.

Compared to my 27" AOC TN 144hz panel it really does seem to do everything I want.

I know thats not a very technical review, but I hope it helps!
