Curved Monitors: Minimum Size?

I'm interested in getting a curved monitor for gaming, but wonder whether people would recommend a minimum size before making the switch.

My flatscreen is 27" and I see curved screens available at that size, but have seen some gamers say that you don't get the full experience of a curved screen with anything smaller than 30". Do you agree with that sentiment?
 
All going to be personal preference and how close you sit. For me in my setup with eyes about 75cm from centre of screen At 27" its all pretty much directly ahead of you in direct field of view so curve does nothing. Once you start getting to 34" then yeah edges move towards periphery so the curve is nice to bring in the edges slightly.
 
I wouldn't bother with a 16:9 at "normal" sizes (e.g. <33").

The other thing to consider is how aggressive the curve is (iirc the r number is how big the radius of a circle (in mm) would be if you extended it completely 360 degrees, e.g. with an 1800r monitor, the centre of the circle would be 1.8m away from the screen. This is useful if you know your approx viewing distance, since if you're sat at the centre of that circle, every point on the monitor is an equal distance from you - this is why it's more relevant on wider monitors, since if they are flat, the edges are significantly further from your eyes which can result in distortion and have to move your head for a clear view rather than just your eyes
 
I have a 32" 16:9 monitor with a pronounced curve and it's great for FPS style games. Also have a 34" UW is perfect for general use.

I use a 29" UW at work which is flat and feels weird. Too close in the middle and too far at the edges so could do with being slightly curved so I'd say less than this and curved monitors would be unnecessary in my experience.

Oh and over a meter distance a curve isn't that noticeable on any large screen hence why big TVs don't benefit much from being curved.

Currently looking at this monitor (well... "looking" = bought yesterday :p), but also very interested in the Aorus FV43U and tempted to get both to compare - however that doesn't have a curve which is putting me off a bit :/

Hahaha - Hope you had Dell Advantage to get the price down the 3821DW is pretty steep :)

Not sure about the Aorus - It looked good but they also made a 48" panel based on the LG OLED panels so that looked more tempting lol
 
Yeah, 20% off through work, so can't complain, 48" is too big, and I'm currently WFH, so 8 hours of static visual studio windows not great for burn in or I would have waited for the 42"

Get where you are coming from - I work a lot from home too so the AW3821DW has been the best option for me too!
