I'm looking to replace my 40" led tv with an updated model

I've been looking at the Samsung UE40JU6500 as it's 4K and curved.

Are curved screens worth it? The picture always looks better when I've seen them but after some feedback from people who actually have one and use daily for gaming and films

personally just a big gimmick

if they sold the save TV both flat curved, i would choose the flat version

however then dont always and you have to choose what is available .

If I was looking for a new tv I wouldn't put curved down as a must have. If the tv comes with it wouldn't bother me either way.

Panel quality is the number 1 priority then price. Resolution is another thing that I'm not bothered about.

I'd much rather have a 720p plasma than a 1080p lcd for instance and much rather have a 1080p OLED over a 4k LCD.

The curve is quite subtle so as long as the picture quality is good i would say it doesn't really matter if its curved or not. Certainly not a selling point for me.

For a curved TV to be of any benefit it would have to be HUGE. So huge it wouldn't fit into 99.9999% of homes. They are a gimmick devised by TV manufacturers to sell more TV's.

I personally prefer flat screens over curved ones, although if a curve is subtle enough so that it doesn't impact viewing from the sides then I don't particularly mind them.

Utterly pointless. Depending on the radius of the curve it can actually feel a little claustrophobic too. At no point will the extremities of the TV be out of your field of vision.

Amongst some of the cheaper models I've noticed rather horrific uniformity issues too, far worse than I've ever seen on any monitor and far beyond what I'd accept.

i agree with most here its just a big selling gimmick that i think the idea came from Imax cinema screens.(i may be well wrong)
