Are far superior to their jammy cousins. In this order:

1) Sainsburys - Good dough, smooth silky filling, good sugary coating
2) Morrisons - Good dought, smooth sillky filling (wins the 'tastes the most custardy' award), fine sugar coating
2) Asda - Good dough, course lumpy filling, good sugary coating
3) Tesco - Bad dough, bad filling, bad sugary coating

Morrisons make the best doughnuts out of the popular food chains. Their raspberry ones are to die for! :)

Sampled today and added in the interests of consumer fairness. It was good, but lost out on the top spot because of their decision to use fine sugar for the coating. It sticks better, but I find it a less satisfying doughnut experience.

I love custard doughnuts, haven't noticed Tesco's to be particularly bad though?

I have consistently found tesco's doughnuts to be the most stodgy. The dough has more in common with soggy cardboard than fluffy goodness.
