Techoftomorrow on youtube are making a Tron themed build and are using 7950's with custom backplates, They look sexy as hell, Does any kind of service exist in the UK to make custom parts like this ?

Coldzero, look a damn sight better then a sheet of perspex too ;)

Edit: check my builds log in Sig for pics of the 7970 plates cz made for me.

Not sure that plexi is the right material to use here, great for electrical insulation but can suffer from static issues....not great in that close a proximity to the components? Also not going to do much for cooling the back of the card.

I have been thinking of machining a backplate for my card (780) with some gentle/quiet active cooling, luckily I am fortunate enough to own a cnc mill :D

Pretty sure acrylic doesn't lead electricity, so i think it's safe, i would be more worried how hot it would get. I would still prefer doing it with metal and make sure to have some standoffs to lift it above componenets, and then slap some thermal pads in critical spots.

Or just wait for someone to make a 780 backplate.. :)

No worries, don't be put off by the fact he's in Portugal either, shipping is both quick and reasonably priced :)

Just emailed him about a custom Razer themed backplate, Just need to mock up the design and send it, Will go nicely with my Razer themed build :)
