Anyone customised these? Tweaked them too suit a specific need or perhaps built one from scratch?
Scenario: I'm running a mini-itx system, using an ATX cable provided with the case that is simply too long for what it's needed for. Which means excess filling up empty space, restricting airflow. At most, all I need is a couple of inches to run from the front mounted DC power board to the motherboard.
Pinouts.ru gives an easy to read diagram of how 20 pin ATX connectors are wired. The problem is, I'm not an electrician. And the motherboard I'm using requires a 24 pin ATX cable, which means I need a 20/24... but it also requires the 4 pin 12V AUX to fully power the motherboard. So I'd be wanting a 20/24 with a 4 pin ATX 12V AUX running off the 24 pin end of the main ATX cable, as well as the connectors for at least two SATA drives.
So... does anyone have any recommendations on were I should start in learning about ATX wiring? I've done a spot of googling, but the modifications I've seen so far don't incorporate running the 4 pin AUX off it as well as the SATA connectors. It's generally just a straight 20/20 or 20/24 chop and sleeve.
Also, the type of pins inside the ATX housing... I've seen various types and product codes listed and was wondering if these would be what I'm looking for. I've already got the housings to fit the pins.
