Hello

I was wondering if the kind staff of overclockers would please price me up and fully custom built gaming PC. My budget is £1500. I would like the machine to be used for gaming on all recent and future games so it would an amazing graphics card.

I would also like to use the machine to run high end video and photo editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas. So It would need a processor that can handle all that for the rendering.

I was think something like 16gig of RAM. and maybe 2 Hard drives, SSD for the C/Windows and maybe another SSD for storage. Also a factor is cooling, just so It wont over heat straight away

At the moment dont include a Monitor in the price

any specs, info and suggestions would be appreciated

Thank you for your time

To be clear: will you be building this yourself or do you want it pre-built?

The Tanto part is just the standard name of the build, and the red case is the standard one. The Ronin is one of the case options.

The top link will take you to the Tanto page but you'll have to select the options yourself. The others are just generic links generated by the forum.

Not to disagree with my esteemed colleagues :), I do disagree with the specs above though.

lets me tell you what id suggest.

As its a gaming and editing/rendering rig the CPU is important, though you need to get the balance between CPU and GPU right. Luckily the rendering programs you use accept GPU rendering which is much quicker than standard CPU rendering, asking as you have a good GPU.

Basically what im saying is you need a 4770k, still 8 virtual cores and doesn't break the bank. Next is the GPU.

GPU rendering is massively limited to a single card, which makes the choice obvious. 780ti.

I'll put you a spec together later mate, I'm only on my phone currently. :)

Here is an I7 build I put together. It includes 16gig ram, opted for a slightly cheaper but still good ssd. The WD HD is more expensive but does have the added advantage of a 5 year warranty. The PSU is overkill but would comfortably allow a second GPU down the line. Includes keyboard and mouse and O/S

That said, fulux pre-build option is good value if you don't want to build yourself.

The 450D is a suprisingly nice case, i thought it would be massively outshone by its bigger brother (750D) but it has a style and quality of its own.

I tried to tie the colour scheme together to make it look nice, none of this mismatch colours or red/black rubbish. Metal, white and Silver. :)

No black HDD, no real need really, 2 x 2TB drives can either be used in RAID for back up (RAID1) or extra speed (RAID0) or just seperatly for 4TB of pure space. :)

The RAM choice may divide opinion as its not Mega-fast. The reason i went for this is because for rendering or even modelling the RAM doesn't need to be fast, it just has to be there. The speed helps a little but the amount of RAM is more important.

That Samsung SSD is WOW!. With more than enough room for all your programs (if you wish) and games too.

The cooler will give you a decent OC, but its mainly to tie the theme together. :)

Thoughts?
