I use my bluetooth headset with my iphone when I drive, bluetooth is kept off all other times to save battery. Since the bluetooth option is hidden in settings > general, it's a bit long to access to turn it on and off.
Just wondering if it was possible before the new 2.0 firmware comes out to put custom buttons on the home screen where i can turn bluetooth on and off at the touch of a button?

Not through official means.

It's probably available through 3rd party apps in the Installer.

There's an app called Services, which has switches to toggle Edge, Bluetooth, SSH and Wifi

Would require more than one touch of the screen though. Perhaps as many as 3 :p

I was going to say Services. Bit more of a shortcut but not perfect for what you are describing. Just leave the bluetooth on!

Exactly, the bluetooth is hardly a security issue as the iPhone can't transfer files.

Not sure how it would affect battery life though, would be interesting to test :)

I don't use Bluetooth for anything so always have it off. It must use some battery power constantly broadcasting its presence or listening for incoming

I would leave on as it makes life easier, just thought that it will drain the battery, might do a test to check battery life with BT on a whole and off a whole to see if there's any difference.
Services seems cool, have just installed it and it makes it easier to turn BT on and off.
