As the title suggests, i am looking for ideas and advice when creating a custom closed loop cooler for my R9 290. I am sick of the stupidly high throttling and its going to be cheaper to do it this way as i can get access to a Corsair closed loop cooler off my mate, and i have a CNC machine in school which my teacher said she will allow me to use, and will help me do the project.
I am looking for ideas for fans, and how i could mount it to my gpu, which by the way is the Reference Cooler R9 290, and if anyone could quickly draw me up something on photoshop or hand draw or if anyone actually has done this before and could send me the files for the CNC or whatever.
I have access to aluminium and can put a little bit of money in however i would like to keep costs as low as possible.

Any advice is welcomed, and i guess this applies to all GPU's aswell to keep them temps down ;)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hmm probably abit if trail and error when making an adapter for the waterblock.

I had 290x and never had heat issues have you enough airflow in your case to supply fresh air?

290,so are super loud tho lol I always used to play with headphones on.

Your a braver man than me I'd just save for a custom loop

Good luck

That is what you need

Put couple of fans to it, like Akasa Apaches on the rad and heatshink, if you believe the ones that come with it are not good enough.

But if you manage to make your own, start your own business also.

What i was going to do was, make the bracket which is bolted to the card via the holes on the pcb, and then cable tie the corsair heatsink onto the gpu.
The bracket would also have mounts for a fan, which would be slightly angled pointing down the gpu so the air is being directing across the VRAM etc and then out the back of the card, and the H60 (not sure what model it is but its a single rad one) would cool the core.
My teacher said she would provide me with help and if i could show her what she is working with, she could work with me to get it done, and if she cant, there is about 3 other people in the tech department which could do it easily. I think i may give it a go, and see what happens as i would really like to do it.

I would have happily paid the £30 for a HG10 if it included a blower fan.

" Against our better judgment the HG10 A1 was released without a blower. All future HG10 brackets will include the blower. "

Corsair's own forums.
