Hey Guys,

After having a move arround. I was left with an area that was suitable to use as an entertainment area for my two children.

Having recently been trained to use Design software Vectorworks and having extensive knowledge of Biesseworks (CNC Sotware) and being in the business of bespoke furniture design. I decided to make a desk top at work.

After measuring up and sketching out a few things I hit Vectorworks.

It only took a few minutes to get a final design.

It was then exported to Bessieworks.

And converted to file that can be read by a CNC router.

Didn't get any pictured of it being cut or edged.

ta daa.....

I already had the IKEA units. Got some funky flooring. Picked up the chairs from Argos and the rest is history its been up for a few months and the kids love it.

Thanks for looking.

Not my cup of tea if I am honest, looks well built but I like my desks substantial. I'd feel too close to the TV using that desk and would have preferred it the depth of the widest part. If the kids love it that is all that matters though :)

It's an interesting way of doing it though, i'm currently knocking up some ideas in Sketchup for my new desk and having my PC built into it.

Thanks for your input mate. For personal use I would have had it deeper, but its in an alcove and the area is a thoroughfare. So i thought it would be best if they could tuck in out of the main way of passage when they are using their technology.

It is very strong though I used 18mm Swiss Kronospan MFC board in Chilli Red which is commercial grade and extremely hard wearing it was also battened and screwed the wall.

Oh my I used to love messing around in sketch up none of my designs ever came to fruition though haha. Would be interested to see your build log and design process when you get it done thanks.
