Custom Cover Page Creation

Hi,

Does anyone have any good guides for creating a custom cover page in Word 2016 from scratch?

I've created the jpg, but then need to add on text areas for date, version, title etc on top of the jpg.

I've followed one guide I found but it seems to be lacking in detailed information. I added the jpg, saved as a template etc but then when I load it in a new word document the margins are all back to normal messing it up.

Set the jpg as a square or something as opposed to "inline with text". One of those options is bound to ignore the page margins.
