Hi,

I want to set up a custom fan profile for my MSI TwinFrozr III 6950. Currently it's running at 40% minimum which is audible so I want to knock it down to 30% but have it increase as temps increase.
What's the best way to do it? A program that lets you set up a graph would be preferable.
Also, ideally I'd rather not use afterburner as it can cause conflicts with CCC and overclocking, if there's no other program then I guess I'll have to give this a go.

Cheers

i was trying to sort this out on my 2 HD6850s, the fan is running at 70% all the time, i have manually set it to 40% and they are pretty much silent and they still run at 34c. the problem is, the fans stay fixed at 40% so no use when gaming :(

you might have to make a custom bios to give you the fan profile you're after.

Or you could use the profiles in CCC and have one for gaming with a nice overclock and a higher fan speed and then a underclock with a lower fan speed.

Ive just started using afterburner to create a new fan profile and it seems to be fine with CCC installed aswel

so do you just tick the box for auto, lower it to whatever you want and it idles on that until you do something stressfull and then it speeds up?

No,, you leave the fan speed on auto and just go onto the fan tab in settings where you can make your own profile.

ok, will have a look when i get home, aint used it for a while.

ref the OP, what issues does AB have with CCC? dont want to mess my new install up.

As you can see I have mine at 30% when idel and as temp increase so does the fanspeed.

Ive only started using afterburner yesterday, and I haven't come across any probs yet with CCC installed..Their getting on very well with each other so far:D

I use a custom AB fan profile for my TFIII's and in the CCC overdrive section it ticks the manual box and sets the fan slider to 50%. It confused the hell out of me at first but after I made sure the fans were actually sticking to my profile just ignored it. not a problem just something to note :)

i tried using AB to do it, works great, until i restart pc, then it loses all my settings

ummm, I only use AB for the fanspeeds and it doesn't loose my settings on rebooting the pc. Have you got AB loaded at startup? as you need AB running all the time to keep the fan speed settings.

yeh thats all i changed too. all set to startup with windows, but on reboot it clears the settings.
this is what it did when i tried to overclock which is why i gave up using it.

You could try changing the "Change User Account Control Settings" to never notify, in the control panel>user accounts. As Ive found that if the slider isn't on the min setting, windows stops some things from working properly
